Youth & Community

Our Rotary Club considers many areas close to home working with many organisations to help, support and deliver on localised projects.

We help and support many local charities and organisations both financially and operationally, such organising schools quizes and competitions, helping with environmental projects,

Rotary seeks to raise the awareness of members, young men and women and those that work with young people, of the rich opportunities offered to promote community service, facilitate greater international understanding; identify and develop the leaders of tomorrow; recognise and celebrate the achievements of young people through Interact clubs, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), Youth Exchange and a range of cultural and sporting activities: actively facilitate the promotion of the wide range of Youth Activities to enable young people of all ages to enjoy the challenges offered and to develop strong bonds of friendship with other participants; and develop a regular and on-going dialogue with young men and women to help them to articulate and realise their hopes, dreams and expectations.

Our Club specifically supports Camp RYLA every year  and often assists local young people with help with their own charities or to take part in special events, such as Disabled Sports.

Young Rotary

Rotary encourages all family members to take part in activities and programmes, and specifically offers the chance for young people to develop personal skills and a better awareness of problems that face the world today. This is an opportunity to meet, work and have a great time with like-minded young people, guided and supported by Rotarians.

Interact- Youth clubs for young people aged 14 to 18 who work together to help others in the community and across the world, whilst having fun and excitement at the same time.

Rotaract - Fun, dynamic clubs for 18 to 30-year-olds, which enable members to meet new people, develop personal and professional skills and give something back to local and international communities.

Currently--October 2009--the Club is working with a group of students at St Andrews University to encourage them to re-establish a Rotaract Club for St Andrews. Any young people 18-30 in the St Andrews area could be eligible to join this group.

Youth Exchange - Each year, Rotary Youth Exchange provides over 9,000 young people worldwide the opportunity to see the world, not as a tourist, but as it should be seen by meeting and living with people from other lands and cultures, possibly learning another language and certainly discovering their real self and of what they are capable.

Competitions - RIBI runs a range of competitions across Great Britain and Ireland aimed at promoting young people's opportunities and celebrating their achievements.

Scholarships - Rotary runs a range of scholarships aimed at encouraging personal development, while at the same time helping to further world understanding.
